Anne Ikiara ~ Author

Anne Ikiara is a seasoned author, speaker and social advocate. She co-designed
the Bits concept, a youth development model that became relevant and
replicable worldwide. Recognising this, she won the Anita Borg Change Agent
Award in 2009. Again in 2011, she was awarded the social impact award by the
same institution. To further cement her accomplishments, the telecentre
organisation foundation awarded her the outstanding telecentre woman manager
award for 2012.

Welcome

Her research interest was exemplified when she won the social science research
council and OSSREA research grants to investigate diverse social challenges.
She published several academic papers in various forums. Her debut novel,
“Humanitarian Lynching Tree”, is an instant sensation. The fiction novel is
lifting the veil on humanitarian organisations and their engagement with diverse
employees. Her second novel, “Line of One,” is in the final stages. She is
simultaneously researching her third novel, “The Civilisers.”
She is an acclaimed development professional with a mastery of organisational
development, strategic planning, fundraising, finance and human resource
management.  She has an excellent track record of working with the poor and
marginalised in development and humanitarian work.

Anne has over 20 years of experience in successfully leading organisations. Her
vast expertise has been garnered from the leading NEAR network, KNCV
Tuberculosis Foundation, Nairobits Trust Kenya, and End Child Prostitution in
Kenya (ECPIK). Her pride is not only the leadership she provided to these
organisations but the remarkable and lasting impact that she left: from the
effective structures to empowered communities and, most importantly, elevating
the organisation’s visibility in Africa and beyond.  Anne holds a Diploma in
HRM, BA in Social Work and MA in Gender and Development Studies.

POETRY

Oh Mama Africa

Ohm Mama Africa
The home of mankind
You are right when you say to humanity
 welcome home!

Mammie, it is so empty

Not the emptiness we see with our eye
No!
Yet, that too is there!
The seat we made for you glares back at us every day; empty
